I agree with Stephen Carter, the William Nelson Cromwell Professor of Law at Yale University: “(Our) celebration of integrity is intriguing: we seem to carry on a passionate love affair with a word that we scarcely pause to define.” In this book Professor Carter delineates three conditions of integrity: discerning one’s deepest understanding of right and wrong, acting consistently with what one has learned, and a willingness to state publicly how we are acting consistently with what we believe is right. He applies this framework to multiple scenarios including religion, politics, journalism, marriage, sports and business.
